November '09 Recall On Men's 100% Merino Wool Sweaters
There is a commonly expressed misconception that 100% wool sweaters do not require shatnez testing. People ask, “Where could shatnez be found, a plain sweater has no linings, etc.?”
Correction: Numerous brands of sweaters have been found with linen threads in seam bindings.
The black men’s button-down, 100% merino wool sweater, shown above, contains linen threads in hidden seams. This sweater, from the current Fall season, was made in China and has no brand name. Though there are several models of this sweater, only the plain black one without cables or ribs contains linen threads.
In conclusion: All of these sweaters, even if they were previously shatnez tested, are being recalled for further testing.Contact Rabbi Selmar Online Or
